Thank you! I was trying not to trip on anything as I kept up with the pouring on the floor that night. I took a number of shots with my little camera, but had to make color notes and sketches too, because the camera didn't capture enough information. I kept being amazed how well the ladleman and crane operator worked together and how accurately they could hit those pouring cups with the hot steel.

I absolutely love your work. It draws me into it and makes me want to explore every inch of the painting. I will be adding you to my favorites collection and coming back again and again to see more ....

Artist's Description

As the crane man carefully moves the heavy ladle across the pouring floor, stopping it precisely over every pouring cup, the ladle man opens a valve, releasing the right amount of molten steel into each mold. As the ladle empties, the reflected light on its structure dims, and the trail of fire on the surface of the molds increases. Finally the ladle is empty and returns to the arc furnace to fill up with another heat of steel.

I am a Juried Artist Member (JAM) of Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA). I have been sewing since I was 13, and was a painter before turning to art quilts. They attracted me because of the possibilities for texture and dimension. My main method of construction is called...
